My sons and I lived through this "truancy" hell. When my sons dad became ill (in another state) and then died, his attendance went beyone 20 days. The school knew what was happening, however that aparently didnt matter. We ended up in court, with the county threatening to take my son away. Thankfully we had a sensible judge that dismissed it. But I have to ask. Which one of us is being neglectful? Me for allowing my son to grieve and deal/adjust as he needed to? Or the state, for threatening to take away his only family, and increasing his stress past what most adults can handle? They are fixated on numbers and not letting us be parents.
